The proceedings of the 14th Meeting of the GAAF dedicated to Funerary Landscapes from Prehistory to Antiquity, are now available for purchase !
This volume brings together 38 papers based on presentations given at the conference held in Dijon from 12th to 14th April 2023. These papers cover methodological and thematic approaches as well as chronological approaches to the funerary landscape.
The development and wider adoption of certain methods and tools (aerial and geophysical surveys, LIDAR campaigns, palaeoenvironmental studies, etc.), combined with the growing number of archaeological excavations, have made it possible to document an increasingly vast area on a national scale. This context has enriched our knowledge and understanding of the funerary landscape, which will be explored at this conference through four thematic areas :
- Exploring and examining territories from a funerary perspective
- Insights into the funerary identity of landscapes
- The evolution of funerary territories over the long term
- Internal landscapes of the necropolis
