Article published on 3 June 2023 | Catégorie(s) : Events

Call for papers for the SAMMC (Société d’archéologie médiévale, moderne et contemporaine) conference which will be held from 30 May 2024 to 02 June 2024 in Aix-en-Provence (France).

The upcoming conference (in French) will focus on the spatial aspects of religious communities in Western and Southern Europe (11th-18th centuries), and more specifically on religious communities (monasties, convents, priories) and their space(s).
The terme ‘space’ should be understood in all its polysemy, referring here to both lived, material spaces and representated spaces.

One session will open up the discussion on the space occupied by the dead. The conference invites abstracts that will particularly discuss the different funerary spaces in religious establishments and show the changes that have taken place in their organisation and hierarchy over the centuries.

Abstracts will be submitted before 15 July 2023 to congresSAMMC2024@gmail.com

Below, link to the conference details.

Dates : From Thursday 30 May 2024 to Sunday 02 June 2024

Location : Aix-en-Provence
