The CRABi project (Communauté de Recherche en Archéologie Biomoléculaire et Isotopique—Research Community in Biomolecular and Isotopic Archaeology) aims to unite French and Francophone researchers, engineers, PhD students, and postdoctoral fellows in the field. The goal is to foster exchange, strengthen networks, and encourage interdisciplinary collaboration within this scientific community.

The call for papers for the first CRABi conference is now open and abstracts can be submitted via the online form before 2 April 2026, at 11:59 p.m.

Presentations languages: French or English

The conference will be organised around 4 themes:

  • Tracing the Living: Circulations, Exchanges, and Mobility of Human and Animal Populations
  • Human Nutrition: From Resource Processing to Diet
  • Living, Coexisting, Adapting: Interactions between Humans, Environments, and Other Living Beings
  • Bodies, Materials, and Time: Production, Transformation, and Preservation

The conference will take place in Bordeaux, 12–13 November 2026.

The aim is to promote interactions between approaches and themes centered on major transdisciplinary topics, complemented by informal exchange opportunities, with a special focus on early-career researchers. This conference will give them the opportunity to present their work, expand their professional networks, and forge new collaborations.
